  • Eastern District of Missouri

ST. LOUIS, MO—A Pennsylvania man, formerly of Florida, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on fraud charges involving his impersonation of Scottrade clients, the United States Attorney’s Office announced today.

According to court documents, Christopher Maury admitted to using his knowledge of the brokerage industry and personal information relating to Scottrade clients to drain their accounts. As part of his plea agreement, Maury made full restitution to Scottrade. Scottrade had previously reimbursed its clients' losses.

CHRISTOPHER MAURY, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was sentenced for stealing more than $32,000 of assets from Scottrade in 2005. Maury appeared in U.S. District Court before Judge Jean C. Hamilton. Maury plead guilty to a single-count indictment charging him with wire fraud on July 16, 2009.

Maury's arrest on this case also lead to his arrest on an outstanding fraud warrant from the State of South Carolina. Maury has also pleaded guilty to those state charges and served time in state custody for that conduct.

The case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation - Computer Crimes Squad. Assistant United States Attorney Tom Albus handled the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
