Local Police Officer Charged with Violating Civil Rights

John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge, St. Louis Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced the arrest of Uplands Park Police Officer Leon F. Pullen, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday. FBI agents arrested Officer Pullen, 31, based on a federal complaint charging him with one count of "Willful deprivation of civil rights under color of law" (Title 18 Section 242).

Officer Pullen is scheduled to make his initial appearance sometime today in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Frederick R. Buckles, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri.

The complaint states on July 15th, 2009, Officer Pullen allegedly sexually assaulted D.S. by placing her in fear of death, bodily harm, and kidnapping.

The FBI wants to hear from others who may have been victimized by Officer Pullen. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the FBI at (314) 231-4324.
