Moberly, Missouri Man Indicted on Federal Child Pornography Charges

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 27, 2009
  • Eastern District of Missouri

ST. LOUIS, MO—Bradley D. Elliott was indicted for possession of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap and Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Fusselman announced today.

Elliott, 40, Moberly, Missouri, was indicted by a federal grand jury July 23, on two felony counts of possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that Elliott possessed these images in September 2007.

If convicted, each count carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

“People who possess internet pictures that sexually exploit innocent children have nowhere to hide even in the privacy of their homes,” said John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in St. Louis. “We have the tools to easily identify them, which is why we have one of the most active investigative teams in the country.”

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Reap commended the work on the case by the Kirksville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, the Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, the Moberly Police Department; and Assistant United States Attorney Reginald Harris, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
