Sean M. Cox, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Springfield Division, announced that Suzanne Phegley of Collinsville, Illinois, has been selected as the recipient of the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for 2015.

This special award, presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI, was formally created in 1990 as a way to honor individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating terrorism, cyber crime, illegal drugs, gangs, and other crimes leading to violence in America. Mrs. Phegley is one of 56 individuals or organizations around the United States who will receive this award this year, and she is being recognized for her contributions toward the prevention of cyber crime and crimes of high technology, as well as her involvement with youth programs in her community.

Mrs. Phegley works to bring business and industry together through the Tri-County Financial Fraud Coalition, which promotes the latest trends in technology used to combat cyber crime and high technology crime throughout the Metro East Saint Louis area. Mrs. Phegley has also been involved with the implementation of a Cyber Crimes Task Force, which is made up of business professionals to advance cooperation between law enforcement and community groups by educating and promoting awareness regarding new trends in cyber crime, frauds, and scams. Suzanne also volunteers her time with Team Illinois Youth Police Camp conducted by the Illinois State Police. She works with the cadets as they participate in a highly structured week-long residence program where physical fitness, resisting substance abuse education, and team building activities are conducted. Mrs. Phegley has been a contributor to the camp over the past several years teaching “money smarts” while volunteering her time throughout the week and graduation. Mrs. Phegley is employed by FCB Banks, which operate in the Metro East Saint Louis, Illinois area. Suzanne is married and has two children, and she is involved with her sons Boy Scout Troop as the Troop Committee Treasurer.

James B. Comey, Director of the FBI, will present the Director’s Community Leadership Award to Mrs. Suzanne Phegley during an official ceremony held at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in April 2016.
