Cahokia Man Sentenced on Drug Charges

Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on September 24, 2010, JAMES C. NELSON, age 32, of Cahokia, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court, East St. Louis, Illinois, to 180 months’ imprisonment, a $600 fine, and a term of five years’ supervised release.

NELSON previously pled guilty on July 8, 2009, to a three-count Indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. The violations took place on or about August 7, 2008, in St. Clair County, Illinois.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in cooperation with the East St. Louis Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald S. Boyce.
