U.S. Attorney’s Office July 13, 2009
  • Southern District of Illinois (618) 628-3700

A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on July 13, 2009, CATHARINE L. MILLER, age 33, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in the United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois. MILLER was sentenced to 120 months’ (10 years') imprisonment, fined $625, and placed on lifetime supervised release.

MILLER had previously pled guilty to a one count federal indictment charging her with Traveling in Interstate Commerce for Purpose of Engaging in Illicit Sexual Conduct with a Minor. The evidence established that MILLER traveled from Ohio to Wayne County, Illinois, on November 14, 2008, to meet a 14-year-old female child with the intent to engage in sex acts with the child.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Southern Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.
