While conducting a homicide investigation, Hood River County (Oregon) Sheriff’s Office (HRCSO) detectives searched the FBI’s National Data Exchange (N-DEx) System for potential leads on the suspects. The N-DEx System returned records from the Los Angeles (California) Sheriff’s Office (LASO) regarding the suspects. Using the records from the N-DEx System, the HRCSO collaborated with the LASO to develop the case and arrest three individuals. The shooter in the homicide was convicted of aggravated murder and received a sentence of 37 years to life. The shooter’s two accomplices agreed to testify against the shooter and were convicted of first-degree robbery. The HRCSO credits the N-DEx System with helping solve the case.
