Arrest Made in Button Down Bandit Investigation

The FBI and the Walnut Creek, Antioch, Emeryville, Pleasanton, Oakley, and Lafayette Police Departments are announcing the arrest of James Quindale Page, 42, of Pittsburg, California, as a result of the “Button Down Bandit” serial bank robber investigation.
FBI agents and local law enforcement personnel from Walnut Creek and Antioch Police Departments arrested Page today, June 10, at about 8:15 a.m. at the 1600 block of 17th Street in Oakland, California, without incident.
Law enforcement personnel from the FBI and the Walnut Creek, Antioch, Emeryville, Pleasanton, Oakley, and Lafayette Police Departments determined Page allegedly had robbed eight banks since March 6, 2013. The robber was described as being a black male, approximately 35 years old, about 5’10” to 6’0” tall, and as wearing various button-down, collared, long-sleeved shirts. Because of the shirts the suspect wore, investigators dubbed him the Button Down Bandit.
During the investigation, bank surveillance photographs of the Button Down Bandit were distributed to area law enforcement agencies and the public.
Based on this dissemination of bank surveillance photographs, Page was identified by an Oakley Police officer. The officer identified Page as someone he had previous law enforcement contacts with during his patrols. Due to this initial identification, additional investigation was conducted by law enforcement that resulted in Page’s arrest.
The Button Down Bandit robbery series involves eight bank robberies. The FBI and local law enforcement agencies believe the Button Down Banditt is connected to the following bank robberies:
- March 6, 2013—Chase Bank, 1510 Palos Verdes Mall, Walnut Creek, California
- March 12, 2013—Wells Fargo Bank, 4767 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton, California
- May 24, 2013—U.S. Bank, 2890 North Main Street, Walnut Creek, California
- May 25, 2013—Wells Fargo Bank, 3365 Deer Valley Road, Antioch, California
- May 29, 2013—Bank of America, 2545 Main Street, Oakley, California
- June 3, 2013—Chase Bank, 5747 Christie Ave., Emeryville, California
- June 7, 2013—U.S. Bank, 3636 Lone Tree Way, Antioch, California
- June 8, 2013—Wells Fargo Bank, 3525 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, California
Page was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility in Martinez, California, this morning.

An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the government proves the individual is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
