The FBI, San Diego Police Department, and the Oceanside Police Department are announcing the arrest of James Arthur Mc Watters, age 36, of San Diego, California. Mc Watters was arrested as a result of the investigation into the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank branch located inside the Ralphs grocery store at 4315 Mission Boulevard in San Diego, California, on Monday, December 31, 2012.

Mc Watters was taken into custody on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at approximately 10:00 p.m., by Oceanside Police Department Officers, after responding to a service call. Mc Watters was subsequently transferred into the custody of a San Diego Police Department Detective and an FBI agent who were jointly investigating the robbery.

On Wednesday, January 2, 2013, Mc Watters was booked into the San Diego Central Jail under several charges, including the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank.

Mc Watters is expected to be arraigned in the Central Division at 220 West Broadway in San Diego, California, on Friday, January 4, 2013.

This case is being prosecuted by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.

An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
