FBI, San Diego Police, and San Diego Sheriff’s Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify the “Insistent Bandit” Bank Robber

The FBI, San Diego Police and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male believed responsible for four bank robberies dating back to January 17, 2012. The latest robbery was on Friday, February 10, 2012, at approximately 10:36 a.m., at the U.S. Bank, located inside of the Vons grocery store at 9643 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, California.
During today’s robbery the robber entered the grocery store and loitered inside of the store for approximately five minutes. The robber then approached the victim teller’s window and made a verbal demand for cash. The robber also lifted up his shirt to expose a handgun in his waistband. After receiving a sum of money the robber walked out of the grocery store.
The “Insistent Bandit” is believed to be responsible for the following robberies:
- Tuesday, January 17, 2012—Pacific Western Bank, 9955 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, CA.
- Monday, January 23, 2012—Pacific Western Bank, 9955 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, CA.
- Monday, February 6, 2012—Home Bank of California, 875 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA.
- Friday, February 10, 2012—US Bank, 9643 Mission Gorge Road, Santee, CA.
Witnesses describe the robber as follows:
Sex: Male
Race: White
Age: Approximately 40 years old
Height: Approximately 5’10” to 6’0””tall
Weight: Approximately 180 lbs.
Build: Medium
Eyes: Unknown
Hair/Coloring: Grey scruffy beard
Clothing: White tee shirt with San Diego Chargers helmet on front of tee shirt, jeans, navy blue jacket with zipper, and baseball hat
