The FBI and San Diego Police Department (SDPD) are seeking the public’s assistance to locate Maurice Renee George Sins, age 42, who is wanted on federal bank robbery charges.

On December 23, 2010, Sins was charged via a federal complaint filed in the United States District Court, Southern District of California, San Diego, California, with two counts of bank robbery. The complaint charges Sins with robbing the Chase Bank, 5825 Balboa Avenue, San Diego, California, on April 20, 2010, and again on April 26, 2010.

According to the complaint, on April 20, 2010, at approximately 10:25 a.m., Sins allegedly entered the Chase Bank at 5825 Balboa Avenue, San Diego, and robbed one of the tellers using a demand note. The demand note stated, “I have a gun. Give me all of the money in your drawer.” The teller complied with the robber’s demand note. The robber took the cash and casually exited the bank out of sight. The robber was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, approximately 45 years of age, roughly five feet and ten inches tall and weighing 250 pounds with a heavyset “beer belly” appearance.

On April 26, 2010, at approximately 11:10 a.m., FBI Agents and SDPD Officers responded to a report of a robbery at the same Chase Bank. During this robbery, Sins allegedly presented a folded plain white sheet of 8 ½ by 11 inch paper folded approximately three times. The note contained a hand-written note ordering the teller to give the robber money and that the robber had a gun. The teller complied with the robber’s demand note. The robber was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, approximately 45 years of age, approximately five feet and five inches tall and weighing 220 pounds with a heavyset build. The robber had dark hair with some grey and wore a dark mustache. The robber wore a dark blue or black short-sleeved button up shirt, dark pants, dark sneakers with white trim and white shoelaces, a light-colored “safari hat,” and a silver watch with a silver band.

On May 24, 2010, the same unknown male bank robber allegedly entered and robbed the US Bank located at 6325 Adobe Road, Twentynine Palms, California. During this robbery, the robber was dressed almost identically to how the robber dressed during the April 26, 2010, Chase Bank robbery in San Diego.

On July 22, 2010, the same unknown male bank robber allegedly robbed the Bank of America located at 57155 Twentynine Palms Highway, Yucca Valley, California. The robber wore different clothing but highly resembled the same unknown robber from the first three robberies.

On June 15, 2010, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) received information identifying Sins as the individual responsible for robbing the US Bank located at 6325 Adobe Road, Twentynine Palms, on May 24, 2010. Additional investigation on the part of SBCSD led to an arrest warrant being issued for Sins for this robbery.

Additional investigation by SDPD and the FBI led to federal bank robbery charges being filed in San Diego for the Chase Bank robberies on April 20, 2010 and April 26, 2010.
