FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Bank Robber Duo

The FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify two unknown males believed to be responsible for robbing the US Bank branch located inside of the Ralphs grocery store, 306 South Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos, California, on Monday, July 12, 2010. One of the robbers is also suspected of robbing the Wells Fargo Bank, located inside of the Vons grocery store at 931 Lomas Santa Fe Drive, Solana Beach, California, on Monday, June 7, 2010.

On Monday, July 12, 2010, at approximately 3:32 p.m. two unknown males entered the Ralphs grocery store via the north doors. Robber number one, approached victim teller number one, leaned over the counter and presented a handwritten demand note for cash. Robber number one, held the note in front of teller number one, while she read the demand note. Teller number one complied with the robber’s demand and provided a sum of money. Robber number one demanded more money from teller number one, which she was unable to provide.

At the same time, robber number two, who appeared to be observing robber number one’s actions, approached the other on duty teller and presented a demand note for cash. The demand note was handwritten. Robber number two, also made a verbal demand for cash. Teller number two complied with the robber’s demands and provided a sum of money. Robber number two, demanded more money and placed his hand underneath his jacket, simulating that he had a weapon. Teller number two then removed the cash drawer to prove that she did not have any more money. Robber number two then turned and followed robber number one out of the grocery store.

Robber number one is also suspected of robbing the Wells Fargo branch inside of the Vons grocery store located at 931 Lomas Santé Fe Drive, Solana Beach, California, on June 7, 2010, at approximately 1:30 p.m. During this robbery, the robber approached the victim teller, unfolded a piece of paper and held the paper in front of the teller. The piece of paper turned out to be a demand note, stating this was a bank robbery. The teller complied with the robber’s demand, providing him with a sum of money. The robber took the cash and the demand note and walked out of the grocery store.

Age: Early to mid-20s
Height: 5’4” to 5’7”
Build: Thin
Hair: Black, short
Facial hair: Dark thin mustache and unshaven stubble
Clothing: Navy blue fisherman’s type hat; dark sunglasses; black hooded sweatshirt with “San Diego” written on the front in black script letters outlined in white; white t-shirt underneath the sweatshirt; dark long pants; white shoes
Misc: Wore something resembling a black sweatband around his neck and used a plastic grocery bag to hold the cash

Race: Hispanic
Age: Late 20s to 30
Height: 5’7” to 5’9”
Build: Medium to heavy
Hair: Black, short
Facial hair: Full dark mustache with some stubble
Complexion: Dark
Clothing: Blue baseball cap with San Diego Chargers lightning bolt design on front; San Diego Chargers v-neck nylon pullover jacket with side pockets, yellow body with blue long-sleeves and side panels, lightning bolt design on front left chest and writing across the back; dark sunglasses; dark long pants, possibly Dickies; dark shoes
Weapon: None seen but gestured by placing his hand under his jacket
Misc: Used white grocery bag to hold the cash
