U.S. Attorney's Office April 28, 2011
  • Western District of Texas (210) 384-7100

United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that in San Antonio this morning, 42-year-old Mark Mendez was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison followed by 25 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography.

According to court documents, on August 26, 2008, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at the defendant’s home. A forensic examination on the defendant’s computer and hard drive revealed the presence of 624 images and 136 videos depicting child pornography. Some of the images and videos depict children under the age of 12 engaged in sado-masochistic conduct. Twenty-four images and three videos depict children who have been identified through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Wannarka prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
