United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that in San Antonio this morning, 41-year-old Robert Lee Crews, of San Diego, California, was sentenced to two years in federal prison for using the Internet to stalk another individual.

In addition to the prison term, Chief United States District Judge Fred Biery ordered that Crews be placed under supervised release for a period of three years after completing his prison term.

On July 21, 2011, Crews pleaded guilty to one count of Internet stalking. According to court records, Crews admitted that while in Nevada on July 27, 2010, he sent an e-mail which included 15 sexually explicit images of his victim to her and 29 of her coworkers in San Antonio with the intent to cause his victim substantial emotional distress.

On April 8, 2011, FBI special agents along with deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Crews in San Diego, CA. He has since remained in federal custody.

This case was investigated by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Wannarka is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
