San Antonio Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Federal Prison for Offering to Sell 5-Year-Old for Sexual Purposes

U.S. Attorney’s Office July 21, 2009
  • Western District of Texas (210) 384-7100

John E. Murphy, Acting United States Attorney announced that in San Antonio this morning, 40-year-old Sean Michael Block was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release for offering to sell a child knowing that as a consequence of the sale, the child would be subject to sexually explicit conduct and distribution of child pornography.

On May 29, 2009, a federal jury found that in August of last year, Block and his co-defendant, Jennifer Louis Richards, arranged for the sale of her 5-year-old daughter, knowing that doing so would result in the 5-year-old being portrayed in a visual depiction engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In exchange for the sale of her child, Richards would receive an apartment and a used car. The jury also found that in connection with the scheme to sell Richards’ child, Block used their computers to distribute child pornography.

On June 23, 2009, Richards was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison followed by ten years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of selling a child, knowing that as a consequence of the sale, the child would be subject to sexually explicit conduct.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation together with the San Antonio Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Tracy Braun and Sarah Wannarka prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
