Spokane Man Sentenced for Theft from Plummer Store

COEUR D’ALENE—Samuel Allman IV, 23 of Spokane, Washington, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Coeur d’Alene today to eight months in prison for theft from an Indian tribal organization, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ordered Allman to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, perform 100 hours of community service, and pay $5,77.07 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to the charge on September 20, 2011.
According to the plea agreement, Allman admitted that on August 22, 2009, he broke into the Benewah Market in Plummer, Idaho, and stole cash from several cash registers. Store alarms alerted Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police to the break-in. Police were unable to locate Allman but discovered a pair of men’s shorts in an alley next to the market. Allman was identified through DNA forensic analysis of the shorts. Store surveillance footage showed Allman, who was wearing shorts, break into the store and steal the cash. The Benewah Market is owned by the Coeur d’Alene Indian Tribe.
The case was investigated by Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
