Eugene Thomas White Quills, Jr. Found Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that on February 29, 2012, in Great Falls, after a federal district court trial before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, EUGENE THOMAS WHITE QUILLS, JR., a 24-year-old resident of Browning and an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. He is currently detained. Sentencing is set for June 21, 2012.
At trial, the following evidence and testimony was presented to the jury.
On the day of the offense, the victim was at her home on the Blackfeet reservation when WHITE QUILLS arrived at her residence. WHITE QUILLS sat down next to the victim on the sofa. When the victim reached over to get cigarettes, WHITE QUILLS attempted to touch her in a way that made her uncomfortable. She pushed him off and told him to behave, reminding him he had a girlfriend. She got up to put things away. WHITE QUILLS followed her into the bedroom. Using force, he then sexually abused her.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Laura B. Weiss and Kris A. McLean prosecuted the case for the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. WHITE QUILLS faces possible penalties of up to life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to life of supervised release.
