Update on Last Week’s Bank Robbery in Butte, Montana

FBI Salt Lake City August 15, 2011
  • FBI Salt Lake City Press Office

FBI special agents assigned to Montana are investigating a bank robbery that occurred in Butte on August 11, 2011. It is believed that this robber could be the same person who has committed a number of other bank robberies in other states, including Washington and Oregon. The bank robber in the photos from last week’s robbery in Butte bears a strong resemblance to an individual who’s been dubbed the “Bad Hair Bandit.” The FBI is seeking the media’s and the public’s assistance in helping us to identify the person in the Bank of Butte surveillance photographs below. The “Bad Hair Bandit” is believed to have committed as many as 18 similar bank robberies throughout Washington and Oregon. A wanted poster of the robber is featured on the FBI’s national website—the link is below. If anyone has any information they believe may help the FBI solve this crime, they are asked to contact their nearest FBI office. Residents in Montana can contact the division office in Salt Lake City at (801) 579-1400. The FBI is investigating the case with Butte Silverbow Law Enforcement.
