Kevin Alfred Gobert Pleads Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

U.S. Attorney’s Office November 22, 2011
  • District of Montana (406) 657-6101

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls on November 22, 2011, before U.S. Magistrate Judge R. Keith Strong, KEVIN ALFRED GOBERT, a 26-year-old resident of Browning, pled guilty to abusive sexual contact and production of obscene visual representation of the sexual abuse of a child. Sentencing has been set for March 19, 2012. He is currently detained.

In an offer of proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cyndee L. Peterson and Laura B. Weiss, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

GOBERT is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe of Indians.

On the evening of January 21, 2011, GOBERT was in the bedroom of a residence located within the exterior boundaries of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. A 10-year-old girl was in the bedroom and on the bed with GOBERT.

GOBERT used his cell phone to take photographs of the girl’s genital area. GOBERT spread her legs apart, took his hand, pulled her underwear away from her buttocks and pubic area, and held the underwear to the side. He then took three photographs of the 10-year-old which depicted the lascivious exhibition of her genital and pubic area. When touching the young girl and manipulating her underwear to take the photographs, he knowingly made contact with her genital area.

GOBERT faces possible penalties of life in prison, a $250,000 fine and at least five years up to lifetime supervised release.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
