Weiser Man Sentenced for Interstate Transportation of a Minor to Engage in Unlawful Sexual Activity

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 09, 2010
  • District of Idaho (208) 334-1211

David Eugene Brechbiel, 43, of Weiser, Idaho, was sentenced on Tuesday to 168 months in federal prison for Interstate Transportation of a Minor with Intent to Engage in Unlawful Sexual Activity, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered Brechbiel to serve 14 years of supervised release following his prison term. He will be required to comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Brechbiel pled guilty to the charge in April 2010.

This prosecution arose after the Ada County Sheriff's Department and the FBI conducted an investigation showing that Brechbiel, who is a long-haul trucker, took an 11-year-old female with him on a trip to Utah during the summer of 2009. Brechbiel admitted that he engaged in sexual contact with the child during that trip. Brechbiel also admitted having engaged in sexual contact with the same child on previous occasions in Idaho before the trip.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ada County Sheriff’s Department, Cascade Police Department, and the CARES Unit at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center.
