SACRAMENTO, CA—A fourth Sacramento-area bank robbery is now officially linked to the Bad Hatter Bandits. On Thursday, February 7, 2013, one of the Bad Hatter Bandits, the primary suspect, entered Chase Bank located at 4117 Elverta Road in Antelope and presented the teller with a demand note. During this robbery, the primary suspect wore a tan fedora, dark blue dress shirt, striped tie, oversized eyeglasses, and black gloves.

The Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force (SVCTF) urgently needs assistance from the public to identify this primary suspect and his accomplices who are suspected of robbing four Sacramento area banks. While no weapons were seen during the commission of any of the robberies, the suspects are all considered armed and dangerous.

The primary suspect is a black male who stands 5’7” to 5’9” tall with a small build. His attire has been different for each robbery, but he frequently wears business attire; however, the suspect arrived at robbery location with a leather folio and one of a variety of hats, including fedoras. When he approached the teller, the suspect indicated that he was armed and offered a note or verbal demand for cash at each location.

A second black male who stands 5’9” to 5’11” tall with an average build accompanied the primary suspect into the bank during the robbery in Sacramento on January 29, 2013. This second suspect approached the teller and told her that he had a weapon.

According to witnesses, additional accomplices have been seen in the Bad Hatter Bandits’ getaway vehicles. To date, all vehicles used for the commission of the robberies have been stolen and a different vehicle was used for each robbery.

To date, the Bad Hatter Bandits have robbed the following four Sacramento-area Chase Bank locations:

  • 3501 Del Paso Road, Sacramento on November 29, 2012
  • 1800 Douglas Boulevard, Roseville on January 10, 2013
  • 3501 Del Paso Road, Sacramento on January 29, 2013
  • 4117 Elverta Road, Antelope on February 7, 2013.

The cases are being investigated by the SVCTF, FBI, Roseville Police Department, Sacramento Police Department, and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Additional details and photos are available on the FBI’s new Wanted Bank Robbers website at https://bankrobbers.fbi.gov.
