Oregon Financial Institutions Security Task Force Offers $5,000 Reward in Salem Bank Robbery

The Oregon Financial Institutions Security Task Force (FIST) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two armed and dangerous bank robbers.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on September 10, 2012, the men walked into the West Coast Bank located at 5686 Commercial Street SE, Salem, Oregon. One suspect stood watch as the other approached the teller counter, brandished a black handgun, and demanded cash. No one was physically hurt. The men left the bank in a stolen truck that was recovered a short time later.

Suspect #1:

  • White male
  • Age: 40-50s
  • Height: 6’0” tall
  • Build: Medium
  • Clothing: Welder’s mask, blue or black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans

Suspect #2:

  • White male
  • Age: 40-50s
  • Height: 5’9”-5’10” tall
  • Build: Thin
  • Clothing: Blue or black long-sleeved shirt, dark-colored pants with blue jeans underneath, brown shoes or boots, dark-colored baseball hat with white or grey lettering, and dark-colored goggles with a light colored cloth over the face

Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspects or their locations should contact either the FBI in Salem at (503) 362-6601 during normal work hours, the FBI in Portland at (503) 224-4181 24 hours a day, or the Salem Police at (503) 540-2352.

FIST is a cooperative effort made up of representatives from banks, savings and loans, and credit unions, as well as representatives from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The purpose of FIST is to help reduce crimes committed against financial institutions and by so doing, ensure the safety of our staff and customers/members.
