FBI Portland December 20, 2012

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following press release:

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office was notified in the evening hours of Tuesday, December 18, 2012 that David Friend had been apprehended by a task force in Riverside County, California. Lane County Sheriff’s Investigators have been assisted by local FBI agents for many months since the discovery that David Friend had fled the state to avoid prosecution for this crime.

During the month of November 2012, Sheriff’s investigators received a tip generated from the television show “America’s Most Wanted.” While this tip did not lead directly to the apprehension of Friend, it did lead to additional investigation that revealed information that led to locating and apprehending Friend. The assigned FBI special agent in the Eugene Resident Agency was instrumental in assisting with investigating this new information and coordinating with the task force in California.
