  • Beth Anne Steele (503) 460-8099

The Oregon Financial Institutions Security Task Force (FIST) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for today’s robbery at the U.S. Bank located at 38561 Proctor Boulevard in Sandy, Oregon. At about 2:40 p.m., the person walked into the bank, threatened employees with a handgun, demanded and received cash, and left. As he was leaving, he also threatened to have left a bomb inside the bank. The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit determined that the item left behind was not an explosive device.

Witness statements have provided an updated description of the bank robber:

  • White male (possibly)
  • Average height/build
  • Wearing Red bicycle helmet, dark-colored short-sleeved shirt, dark-colored shorts, face mask, and gloves (possibly red)

Anyone with information should call the FBI at (503) 224-4181 or the Sandy Police Department at (503) 655-8211. This robber is believed to be armed and dangerous. Do not approach him. If you believe yourself to be in the immediate vicinity of the robber, call 9-1-1.

FIST is a cooperative effort made up of representatives from banks, savings and loans, and credit unions, as well as representatives from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The purpose of FIST is to help reduce crimes.
