Federal Inmate Gets Extra Year in Prison for Possessing Contraband

JOHNSTOWN, PA—An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Loretto has been sentenced in federal court to one year and one day in prison, consecutive to the sentence he is currently serving, on his conviction of possession of contraband in prison, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Thomas R. Harriger, 46.
According to information presented to the court, on March 7, 2010, Harriger possessed marijuana and dihydrocodeinone at FCI Loretto.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr. prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Staff at the Federal Correctional Institution at Loretto for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Harriger.
