Hazelton Inmate Sentenced on Assault Charge

CLARKSBURG, WV—A 34-year-old federal inmate was sentenced on January 10, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that LEON BRANT was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment to be served consecutive to his current sentence. BRANT entered a plea of guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with assaulting a correctional officer, causing injury, on March 25, 2009, at USP Hazelton.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brandon S. Flower. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.
