Johnstown Woman Sentenced to Probation for Embezzling Client Funds

PITTSBURGH, PA—A resident of Johnstown, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to three years’ probation on her conviction of embezzlement of client funds in bankruptcy petition filings, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Chief United States District Judge Gary L. Lancaster imposed the sentence yesterday on Olivia Lorenzo, 50.
According to information presented to the court, Lorenzo, a former licensed attorney in Pennsylvania, embezzled client funds and filing fees relative to bankruptcy petitions totaling approximately $25,368.00. In imposing sentence, Judge Lancaster recognized that Lorenzo was remorseful, was disbarred, and made restitution to the clients.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Trustee for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Lorenzo.
