Grafton Resident Sentenced on Child Pornography Charge

CLARKSBURG, WV—A 47-year-old Grafton, West Virginia resident was sentenced on July 6, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that JAMES S. WOLFE was sentenced to 87 months’ imprisonment to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. WOLFE entered a plea of guilty on March 22, 2010, to one count of possession of child pornography in March of 2009.

WOLFE, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated federal institution on August 8, 2011.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Grafton Police Department, and the Taylor County Sheriffs Department.
