Aliquippa Man Charged with Receiving, Possessing Child Pornography

PITTSBURGH, PA—One resident of Aliquippa, Pa, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of possessing and receiving child pornography, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The two-count indictment, returned on Aug. 18, 2011, and unsealed today, named Kenneth A. Michel, 49, of Aliquippa, Pa.
According to the indictment, Michel did knowingly possess and receive visual depictions, namely, images and videos contained in computer graphics files, the production of which involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Amy L. Johnston is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
