Judge Sentenced Johnstown Man to 96 Months in Prison for Drug Distribution

JOHNSTOWN, PA—A resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania has been sentenced in federal court to 96 months in prison and three years’ supervised release on his conviction of distribution of cocaine base, commonly known as “crack,” United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Maurice Larmont Taylor, 31.

According to information presented to the court, on each of the dates of Aug. 26, 2009, Sept. 3, 2009, and Sept. 24, 2009, Taylor distributed less than five grams of cocaine base.

Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cambria County Drug Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Byrd.
