New Castle Man Sentenced to Prison for Possessing Child Pornography

PITTSBURGH—A resident of New Castle, Pa., has been sentenced in federal court to 37 months in prison and five years’ supervised release on his conviction of possession of child pornography, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill, Jr. imposed the sentence on Todd Covert, 47.
According to information presented to the court, Covert possessed 17 videos and 168 still images constituting child pornography, all of which had been downloaded from the Internet. Six of the videos showed the penetration of prepubescent children by adult males.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Pennsylvania State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Covert.
