Washington County Man Charged with Robbing Shaler Bank

PITTSBURGH—A resident of Washington, Pa., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of bank robbery, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
The one-count indictment named Eric May, 34, as the sole defendant.
According to the indictment, on Oct. 2, 2010, May robbed the Eureka Bank located at 1626 Babcock Boulevard in Shaler Township. As a result of the robbery, May obtained $670.00 in U.S. currency.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Almon S. Burke, Jr. is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Shaler Township Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
