Four Federal Inmates Sentenced
Three Inmates Sentenced for Stabbing Another Inmate; One Inmate Sentenced for Attempting to Obtain Heroin

CLARKSBURG, WV—Four federal inmates entered guilty pleas and were sentenced on October 1 and 4, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

ISREAL ELIZONDA-ANGELES, age 35; JOSE DAJESUS MARTINEZ, age 36; and EFFREN MENDOZA-MENDOZA, age 31; all inmates at USP Hazelton, were each sentenced to 12 months and one day imprisonment to be served consecutively to their current sentences. ELIZONDA-ANGELES, MARTINEZ, and MENDOZA-MENDOZA entered pleas of guilty to a one-count Indictment charging them with assaulting a fellow inmate with homemade knives and stabbing him multiple times on October 3, 2008. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys David E. Godwin, Sherry L. Muncy, and Brandon S. Flower.

NATHANIEL MCRAE, age 31, an inmate at USP Hazelton, was sentenced to one year imprisonment to be served consecutively to his current sentence. MCRAE entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with attempting to obtain heroin from his wife while she was visiting him at the correctional facility on July 3, 2009. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherry L. Muncy.

The cases were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services Unit at USP Hazelton.
