USP Hazelton Inmate Sentenced for Assaulting an Officer

CLARKSBURG, WV—A 23 year old federal inmate entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced on July 6, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that SHANE M. BENCH entered a plea of guilty to assaulting an officer at USP Hazelton on November 11, 2008. BENCH was then sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The case was investigated by the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
