Johnstown Man Who Conspired to Distribute Cocaine Gets Six-Year Prison Sentence

United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today that on January 29, Nieves Calderone, a resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Johnstown to 72 months’ imprisonment and five years supervised release on his conviction of various narcotics offenses.

United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Calderone, age 32.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., from February 10, 2005, to September 1, 2005, Calderone and six other co-defendants conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin. In addition, on August 29, 2005, Calderone distributed less than 100 grams of heroin.

Ms. Buchanan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, and the Cambria County Drug Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Calderone.
