Tohono O’odham Man Sentenced to More Than 16 Years for Child Sexual Abuse

TUCSON—On March 27, 2013, Curtis Michael Garcia, 33, of Sells, Arizona was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins to 16 ½ years in prison. Following incarceration, Garcia will be on lifetime supervision with sex offender conditions, including registering as a sex offender. Garcia, a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, pleaded guilty on August 31, 2012, to two counts of abusive sexual contact.

Between March 1 and May 30, 2009, Garcia sexually abused two minor females on the Tohono O’odham Nation.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tohono O’odham Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Nicole Savel, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Tucson.
