Tohono O’odham Member Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Stabbing on Pascua Yaqui Indian Reservation

TUCSON, AZ—On April 12, 2012, Aaron James DeLores, 29, of Tucson, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jennifer G. Zipps to 48 months in federal prison. DeLores pleaded guilty on February 2, 2012 to one count of aggravated assault.
On December 5, 2010, DeLores, a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation living on the Pascua Yaqui Indian Reservation, stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. The victim, who is a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, was living with DeLores when the stabbing occurred. Following his release from prison, DeLores will be required to complete a three-year term of supervised release.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Pascua Yaqui Police Department, with assistance from the Tucson Office of the FBI. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Micah Schmit, District of Arizona, Tucson.
