  • District of Arizona (602) 514-7500

PHOENIX—Leola Dale Edison, 32, of Tuba City, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison yesterday by the Honorable David G. Campbell, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of actual methamphetamine. Leander Leo Edison, 31, also from Tuba City, was sentenced to 49 months in federal prison on February 7, 2011, by the Honorable G. Murray Snow, after also pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of actual methamphetamine.

Between October 10, 2008 and August 28, 2009, Leander Leo Edison and his co-conspirators sold methamphetamine to undercover officers on six separate occasions as part of an undercover operation. As part of this same undercover operation, in April 2010, Leander Edison’s sister, Leola Dale Edison, and her co-conspirators sold methamphetamine to undercover officers on three separate occasions.

This undercover operation targeted individuals who were dealing methamphetamine in Tuba City and Flagstaff. Many of these meth dealers, including Leander and Leola Edison, had connections with suppliers in Phoenix. Police arrested 23 people on federal charges as a result of this operation. Twelve defendants have been sentenced, six defendants are awaiting sentencing, and trials are pending in the remaining five cases.

The investigation in these cases was conducted by the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety Drug & Gang Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Flagstaff Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Christina J. Reid-Moore, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
