Seeking Information on “Slingblade Bandits”

The FBI Bank Robbery Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the “Slingblade Bandits.” On Monday, June 29, 2009, an unknown male entered the Arizona Federal Credit Union located at 1311 W. Chandler Boulevard, in Chandler. He approached the teller window and handed the teller a demand note. He then opened a sling on his left arm and displayed a semi-auto handgun. The unknown male received an undisclosed amount of money and exited the bank on foot. No vehicle was seen.

The unknown male is described as a white male in his 40’s, 5’8”, 280 lbs., heavy set, salt/pepper hair, mustache/goatee, grey t-shirt, dark baseball cap, prescription eyeglasses, dark arm sling on left arm concealing a semi-auto hand gun.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2009, an unknown male entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 1901 S. Gilbert Road in Mesa. He approached the teller and displayed a handgun which was concealed inside a sling on his left arm. He verbally demanded money and presented a demand note but the teller did not read it. The unknown male received an undisclosed amount of money and exited the bank on foot. No vehicle was seen.

The unknown male is described as a White male in his 30’s, 5’6” to 5’8”, medium build, black baseball cap, black sunglasses, white bandages on right side of his face, light green drab colored long sleeve shirt with the word “Military” on the front, dark pants, arm sling on left arm, black semi-auto handgun.
