Robbery of Republic Bank Branch in Philadelphia Tuesday

The Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the robbery Tuesday of the Republic Bank branch located at 1601 Walnut Street.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. yesterday, the subject entered the bank and handed a teller a demand note that referenced a bomb. He then produced a box with wires hanging out of it. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank on foot.

The box with wires was not an actual bomb.

The subject is described as a black male, approximately 5’10”-6’1” tall, medium build, with eyeglasses. He wore a white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black boots, and a knit winter cap.

This subject is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about this robbery or this subject is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department. There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
