FBI Top Ten Fugitive Eric Frein Captured

Six weeks after he was named to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, Eric Matthew Frein has been captured.

Frein, 31, was apprehended at 6:07 p.m. (EDT) on October 30, 2014, at a defunct airfield near Tannersville, Pennsylvania by members of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Frein was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of one Pennsylvania State Police trooper and the wounding of another outside the Blooming Grove Barracks in Pike County, Pennsylvania, on September 12, 2014.

His arrest concludes a massive manhunt in the Pocono Mountains, led by the Pennsylvania State Police. Frein will now be tried by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Since its creation in 1950, the FBI Top Ten list has featured 503 fugitives. With the capture of Eric Matthew Frein, 473 have been apprehended or located.
