Philadelphia Man Charged with Possessing Contraband in Prison

Kareem Alverest, 32, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged today by indictment with possession of contraband in prison, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.
If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of five years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Virgil B. Walker.
