Attempted Robbery of Sovereign Bank Branch in Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subject responsible for the attempted bank robbery which occurred earlier today at the Sovereign Bank branch located at 8623 Germantown Avenue (Chestnut Hill), Pennsylvania.

At approximately 10:10 a.m. today, subject entered the bank and presented a threatening demand note to the teller. Subject fled the area without obtaining any cash. This subject is believed to be the same individual responsible for two additional bank robberies, one of which occurred on January 30, 2012 at National Penn Bank on 9 W. Evergreen Avenue in Philadelphia, and the other which occurred on January 6, 2012 in Glenside, Pennsylvania at the Conestoga Bank.

Subject is described as a black male, 30 years old, 5’7” tall, with a slim build, dark complexion, goatee and moustache, and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark sunglasses, and black gloves.

Pictures from the bank’s security cameras are below. This subject is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police or the FBI at (215) 418-4000.

There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture and tipsters may remain anonymous.
