Philadelphia Man Charged with Bank Robbery

William A. Schmidt was charged today by Indictment with two counts of bank robbery, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment charges that Schmidt robbed branches of the PNC and Citizens Bank on December 14, and December 20, 2010, respectively.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, a three-year period of supervised release, and a $200 special assessment. The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Joseph A. LaBar.
