PHILADELPHIA—Jon J. Lackner, 47, of Cherry Hill, NJ, was convicted today of all charges in connection with a sex traveler case, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. A federal jury determined that Lackner, a practicing dentist, used interstate communications to attempt to induce a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, traveled with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, and attempted to transfer obscene material to a minor in Bensalem, Pennsylvania between August 2008 and March 2009. Lackner used the mail, the Internet, and a telephone to attempt to induce a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. Lackner traveled from New Jersey to Bensalem, Pennsylvania for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. On March 12, 13, and 15, Lackner used the Internet to attempt to transfer obscene material to a minor. Lackner also faces additional federal charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Petrese Tucker scheduled sentencing for September 29, 2011. Lackner faces a mandatory minimum of ten years in prison with a maximum of life, a mandatory minimum of five years’ supervised release, a $1.25 million fine, and a $500 special assessment. Lackner’s bail was revoked and he was immediately taken into custody.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bensalem Police Department, the Cherry Hill, NJ Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Natali.
