Lowell Man Charged with Being a Fugitive in Possession of a Firearm

Richard Sam, a/k/a “Jason Sarom,” was charged today by indictment with being a fugitive in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. According to the indictment, Middlesex County, Massachusetts had an active warrant for his arrest when, on December 20, 2009, Sam possessed a loaded .22 caliber revolver in Philadelphia.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, three years’ supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment .
