Former New Jersey Police Officer Sentenced to 85 Months in Prison for Committing Multiple Bank Robberies

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that Senior United States District Judge Edwin M. Kosik sentenced Carl Holliday, age 33, formerly of Vineland, New Jersey, to 85 months in prison for his involvement in committing multiple bank robberies, as well as the robbery of a pharmacy.
According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Holliday previously entered a guilty plea before Senior Judge Kosik and admitted to committing seven bank robberies in Pennsylvania and New Jersey between July and December of 2010. In addition, Holliday admitted to committing a robbery of the Rite Aid Pharmacy in White Haven, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, on December 20, 2010.
Specifically, Holliday admitted to robbing the following institutions:
- Susquehanna Bank, Harrison Township, New Jersey, on July 28, 2010;
- TD Bank, Millville, New Jersey, on October 15, 2010;
- TD Bank, Millville, New Jersey, on November 4, 2010 ;
- TD Bank, South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, on November 11, 2010;
- PNC Bank, White Haven, Pennsylvania, on November 18, 2010;
- TD Bank, Lansdale, Pennsylvania, on December 9, 2010;
- Rite Aid Pharmacy, White Haven, Pennsylvania, on December 20, 2010; and
- Wachovia Bank, Paulsboro, New Jersey, on December 22, 2010.
Holliday was formerly employed as a police officer in Bridgeton, New Jersey, in 2006.
In addition, Senior Judge Kosik further ordered that the defendant be supervised by a probation officer for three years after serving his jail sentence. The defendant was also directed to pay restitution in the amount of $22,360.70.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and numerous local law enforcement agencies, including the White Haven, South Whitehall Township, and Towamencin Township Police Departments in Pennsylvania, and the Harrison Township, Millville, and Paulsboro Police Departments, in New Jersey.
U.S. Attorney Smith noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara.
