FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award Presented to Nu-Juice Foundation

FBI Philadelphia November 18, 2009

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Janice K. Fedarcyk, of the Philadelphia Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is pleased to announce that Philadelphia based Nu-Juice Foundation will be presented with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award on Thursday, November 19, 2009. Nu-Juice Co-founder and Vice President Jerome Chaney and Executive Director Eric Ward will be accepting this award, presented by SAC Fedarcyk, in the offices of the Philadelphia Division of the FBI on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at 10:30 a.m.

Since 1990, the FBI has publicly recognized and honored the achievements of individuals and organizations for their continued efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs and violence in America with the Community Leadership Award. Each year, one individual or organization in each of the FBI's 56 field offices is selected whose achievements in the terrorism, crime, drug, gang, and/or violence prevention and education field have had exemplary impact on the community.

The Nu-Juice Foundation, founded in 2002, is a Philadelphia based non-profit organization that works with low-income and disadvantaged families and community youth between the ages of 11 and 18. Nu-Juice engages youth in positive educational and recreational activities that help lead to successful careers, and focuses on instilling the civic values that empower young people to achieve and succeed. The Foundation also works closely with private companies, corporations, municipalities, school districts, foundations, and community based organizations to foster and encourage the process of reinvesting and participating in the prosperity of youth and families by providing financial, educational, and career opportunities. In 2007, Nu-Juice Foundation also created the Youth Law Enforcement Program to provide students with an understanding of all aspects of law enforcement and the criminal justice system, in order to help bridge the gap between urban youth and the law Enforcement community.

A press conference regarding this matter will be held at the FBI office, 600 Arch Street, 8th Floor, on Thursday, November19, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. SAC Fedarcyk will present the award to Mr. Chaney and Mr. Ward, and will address the media. Audio and video recording will be permitted.
