Central Nebraska Man Sentenced to 60 Months’ Imprisonment for Distributing Methamphetamine in Grand Island

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that yesterday the Honorable John M. Gerrard, U.S. District Court Judge, sentenced Luis Jordan, 36, to 60 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and he was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment, following his conviction for distribution of methamphetamine.
On November 4, 2011 and November 8, 2011, Jordan sold a total of 20 grams (about ¾ of an ounce) of 95 percent pure methamphetamine to a cooperating witness who was working with law enforcement in Grand Island. On October 20, 2012, Jordan set up a deal to sell five ounces of methamphetamine to a cooperating witness in Duncan, Nebraska. As Jordan arrived at the meeting location, he was stopped by law enforcement. Officers located a stuffed animal in the cargo area of his Chevrolet Tahoe that contained a Crown Royal bag and inside the bag was the methamphetamine.
The Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force in Grand Island and Specialized Narcotics Abuse Reduction Effort (SNARE) Drug Task Force in Columbus was responsible for the investigation of this case.
