Lincoln Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Marijuana

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on March 21, 2012, Ivan Brian Brooks, 30, formerly of Lincoln, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. Following the prison term, Brooks will serve five years on supervised release.

In December of 2010, Brooks sold 1/8 ounce quantities of methamphetamine to an undercover Lincoln police officer on three occasions at the Lincoln residence he shared with co-defendant Adelfo Soto. During those buys, the officer saw Brooks in possession of additional methamphetamine and cocaine and saw Soto in possession of cocaine. On December 29, 2010, a search warrant was executed at Brooks and Soto’s residence, resulting in the discovery of an additional ounce of methamphetamine, 3/4 of an ounce of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana, and a total of $1,596 in cash. Testing at the state crime lab showed that the methamphetamine purchased by the undercover officer and the methamphetamine found during the search warrant was approximately 95 percent pure. As part of his sentence, Brooks was also ordered to forfeit any interest he had in the $1,596 in cash.

This case was investigated by Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force, which includes the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
